  • The Front Desk Support Volunteer is essential to the smooth operation of our women’s center, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all guests. This position supports daily activities, ensuring that our drop-in center remains organized, efficient, and inclusive.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Guest Services:

    Welcome and greet all drop-in guests with warmth and professionalism.

    Ensure visitors sign in upon arrival for accurate record-keeping and safety.

    Offer coffee, tea, or water to guests waiting for appointments to make them feel at ease.

    Communication and Scheduling:

    Answer the drop-in phone line, responding to inquiries or directing calls appropriately.

    Manage the info email inbox by responding to general inquiries or forwarding messages to relevant staff members.

    Schedule appointments for advocates, legal liaisons, social workers, or employment coaches using our booking system.

    Provide clear and accurate information about the center’s services and programs.

    Reception Area Maintenance:

    Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.

    Restock essential items such as forms, brochures, and refreshments as needed.

    Administrative Support:

    Perform basic filing tasks to keep records organized and up to date.

    Assist with other administrative duties as required to support the center’s day-to-day operations.

    Assist with fundraising by sending emails and calling businesses for sponsorship and donation support.

    Drop-In Centre Operations:

    Open and prepare the drop-in center at the start of the day, ensuring it is ready to serve guests.

  • Be there to provide support and mentorship for resume writing, cover letter writing, job application development, and 1:1 mock interview support.

    This role provides financial literacy education and 1:1 financial education support to clients who need additional help managing their financial health.

    Our Employment coaches are also equipped with the skills to provide support with professional development bursary applications and support clients with subsidization to meet their needs while managing their first month of employment.

  • Take phone calls, assist, listen and refer users to various services and support with applications for housing, education, financial aid, food support and other resources. Training provided.

  • Be there to give support to individuals who are going to court, appointments, in the hospital, and support with meeting other needs. Our team of Outreach Advocates also meet unhoused women and girls where they are in their most vulnerable environments.

  • Working with our Table Talk Coordinator, develop different talks on women’s social determinants of health to facilitate at our bi-monthly table talks.

  • Join our team of volunteers, and support running workshops - teaching participants art therapy, arts and crafts, yoga/ pilates, gardening, mindfulness etc.

  • Co-develop and facilitate different workshops both internally and in the community.

  • Help our fund development team with cold calling, dropping off donation letters, picking up donations, and emailing potential donors to support various centre activities.

  • Support the women’s centre with picking up donations, emptying donation bins and bringing back to the women’s centre. Take part in donation sorting on our sorting days, developing team work and helping us help women.

  • Work alongside our Special Projects Coordinator, and leadership team to advance the Interior Women’s Centre Societies advocacy efforts.

    This role will support facilitation of the Interior Women’s Leadership Network, take part in different research initiatives. As well, support tabling’s, acting as an ambassador on behalf of the agency.

    This role will also support the coordination and implementation of the SHE Speaks Blog & Podcast. Working with blog authors to promote diverse voices speaking out about women’s issues through our blog and working with our Special Projects Coordinator and Media Team to build out the organization’s SHE Speaks Podcast.

Corporate Volunteers

Interested in supporting our mission through a team-building activity. We are always looking for an extra helping hand at the Centre. We are equipped to handle groups of up to 7 people for a full or half day of volunteering. We will be thrilled to host your corporate volunteering activity and better acquaint you with everything the Centre offers.
