• About Us

The Interior Women's Centre Society is a provincially incorporated non-profit that was created by women for women. Our mission is to create spaces where we can come together as a community and advocate for women's equity across BC's Interior. As an organization, we adopted models from women’s centres across Canada, to support the gaps within the Interior Region - amplifying women’s voices, providing employment support, wrap-around supports and referring women and girls to supports that can best meet their needs.

Our Centre welcomes all women, girls and non-binary individuals within our communities, seeking help for basic needs, overall health, wellness and economic prosperity.

    Our Chapters:
    Kamloops Women's Centre
    Kelowna Women's Centre
    Merritt Women's Centre
    Salmon Arm Women's Centre.

  • History

Since the organization's inception in 2023, we have been guiding women on the path toward personal and professional fulfillment. The community we have begun to develop is strong, resilient and united, and we aim to continue growing the community and bridging advocacy initiatives across all of our chapters.

Acknowledgement

At Interior Women's Centre Society, we acknowledge that we operate on the traditional, unceded territories of the Secwépemc, Syilx (Okanagan), and Nlaka'pamux Peoples, whose lands include the areas of Kamloops, Kelowna, Salmon Arm, and Merritt. We recognize the deep connections these Nations have to their ancestral lands and waters, and we honour their enduring presence and contributions to these regions.

We recognize the historical and ongoing impacts of colonization, systemic racism, and the residential school system on Indigenous communities, including those within the Secwépemc, Syilx, and Nlaka'pamux Nations. As an organization committed to equity, we affirm our responsibility to support the process of Truth and Reconciliation.
